Week Seven Reflection

Image
Rate and explain your overall experiences of the week 1- very difficult to 5- great week.  I give this week a 3.75. It was definitely better than last week, but it was still extremely stressful due to EdTPA.  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  I accomplished a lot on my EdTPA this week and I am really proud of myself for it! EdTPA is not fun🙃 so I am proud of every little accomplishment I have.  Reflect: What lessons did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learned that it is okay to take a sick day when needed. I also learned the value of having materials prepped for the week in case of emergencies and sickness. I was absent Wednesday due to being really sick, but my CE nor I were worried or stressed because I printed and prepped everything before the week so all my CE had to do was pick up my folder and start teaching.  Focus: Ho...

Week six Reflection

Rate and explain your overall experience of the week 1- very difficult to 5- great week.  I give this week a 2. There's a lot going on right now.  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  This week, I was able to participate in parent-teacher conferences. This was a nice experience. My CE led the first one so that I could watch and get a feel for how to do it. She let me lead all the other ones. Talking about my EC students doing so well in Reading Horizons was very fulfilling.  Reflect: What lessons did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I have learned that I need to stop sitting behind the desk to teach so much. I have also noticed a correlation to student engagement whenever I am not teaching from behind the desk. I have recently started using the classroom iPad to teach so that I can get up and walk around with it. This allows me to see, t...

Week Five Reflection

This is a photo of the materials I prepared this past weekend for my week. For so long, I struggled with how to get organized for my lessons each week. I finally found a way! A simple bin from Dollar General and a pack of folders on Amazon did the trick! I look at this photo of these folders and can't help but think about how much time I spend with my students and how I can impact them. I love every bit of it!  Rate and explain your overall experience of the week 1-very difficult to 5-great week.  This week is a 5! It was an awesome week! This was my second full week of student teaching. Taking into account my experiences from last week and the many pieces of advice I was given from many people, I made changes and thought about things differently this week. It made for a great, smooth week.  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week? On Tuesday, my CE was absent. This w...

Week Four Reflection

Through middle and high school, there was a substitute teacher that everyone knew- Mrs. Tweety Stewart. Mrs. Stewart has high expectations and no time for funny business. Mrs. Stewart is a well-known and loved woman in my town who still substitutes in the classroom today! The quote above is what she told every class she ever subbed in. I am a senior in college now and I still say this to myself daily. As we are all picking up full-time teaching, we should be reminded to work until our good is better and our better is our best!  Rate and explain your overall experience of the week 1-very difficult to 5-great week.  I would rate this week as a 4! It has been an awesome week and I have learned a lot. This week, I picked up full-time teaching. It was tough at first because I felt like I was constantly running around trying to manage a circus. I have really buckled down on classroom management this week. My CE gave me some good advice that helped me. My C...
