Week Sixteen Reflection

Rate and explain your overall week:  I give this week a 4.8. It was an amazing week but full of tears as I said goodbye to my first group of students. On my last day, I brought cupcakes, cookies, chips, and juice for us to have a celebration party. There were tears, but I kept the energy as positive as possible so that we could celebrate and not be sad. I also accepted a job this week!  Respons to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  I was pleasantly surprised with my ability to control my emotions as I celebrated and told my kids goodbye. A few times, I had to fight back tears, but I did well for the most part. Another accomplishment I achieved was accepting a job offer in my hometown.  Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learned that although the days may feel long sometimes, the time flies by fast, so hold, love, and cherish your...

Rate and explain your overall week:  This week has been really good! I would give it a 4.5 so far. I have a lot of adult decisions to make as I have been offered a teaching job!  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  One of the most pleasant surprises/accomplishments I accomplished this week was going on my first job interview. I was nervous, but it went well! One of the ladies who sat in on my interview was my pre-K teacher so it was a very full-circle moment.  Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  As I was observing various teachers this week, I noticed one teacher who stood out. She is a third-grade teacher at my clinical school. I never realized how calm of a teacher she was and how that impacted her students. She has the most peaceful and nurturing tone, allowing so much learning to happen!  Focus: How are my short-...

Rate and explain your overall week:  This week was fairly okay. I give it a 3.9. It was a fun week as we had the eclipse, but it was also a four-day week and the week after spring break.... it was a lot. My kids had a blast learning about the eclipse and getting to view it (using safety glasses of course)!  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  I was pleasantly surprised with how well my students behaved this week! This is the week we came back from spring break, had a four-day week, AND had the solar eclipse. I was expecting the kids to be CRAZY but they proved me wrong! My CE and I completed the two CE observations I needed this week and I couldn't have been happier with how my babies behaved... I rewarded them all with bucks for a well-behaved week when they were packing up on Thursday 💛 Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learne...

I PASSED EDTPA HIGHLY QUALIFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rate and explain your overall week:  On a scale of 1-5, I rate this week a 10 because I passed EdTPA!!! I do not think I have ever felt this joyful and relaxed regarding my academics in a really long time!!!  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  The biggest accomplishment I had was passing EdTPA! What surprised me the most was that I passed highly qualified! I never thought I would be good enough to pass as highly qualified! All I wanted to do was pass- didn't matter how! When I got the phone call, I was overjoyed! When I found out I was highly qualified, I dropped to the floor and tears started flowing! It was one of the best feelings ever!  Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learned to believe in myself! I have always been my own worst critic. I am harder on myself than an...

Rate and explain your overall week:  I would rate this week a 3. It was a tough week. There is a lot of stress with EdTPA Results coming back soon. I am learning to enjoy this tough process!  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  I am getting better at classroom management. I am also proud of myself for how well I stay on track with our daily schedule. I make sure that we stay on track at ALL times!  Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learned that teaching does not always have to be stressful! Let it be FUN! Have fun with the kids! I constantly joke with my kids (at the right times) and it truly makes them all laugh! Even my kiddos who are more serious and never crack a smile have begun to laugh at my jokes!  Focus: How are my short-term efforts aligned with my long-term goals?  I am working on learning everything I c...

Rate and explain your overall week:  Overall, I would give this week a 4. The check-in meeting we had yesterday took 1 point off my week because it quite simply stressed me out. My kids were great this week and I feel like I did a great job teaching! I also had a walk-through done on me by the Principal which went very well!  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  On Monday, I was informally observed by the Principal through a walkthrough. I had no idea this was going to happen and really was not prepared. However, I just did what I would normally do and taught and redirected my kids as I normally do and it went well! The principal sent over her feedback and I was pleasantly surprised.  Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learned that it is okay to correct and redirect behavior in front of major authority figures. For so l...

Rate and explain your overall week I rate this week a 4. The stress of EdTPA was gone, however, the anticipation of getting a score is weighing heavy on me.  Respond to these questions to end your week:  Observe: What pleasant surprises/accomplishments did I achieve this week?  I accomplished setting up a routine for sending home positive notes. These positive notes go to one student each day as a way to praise them for a task they did well- whether that be academics or behavior. I am glad I started this because my students and parents are responding very well! Some of my more behaviorally challenged students have shown significant improvement as they are trying their best to get a positive note! I have a tracker to know who has already received a positive note and who has not received one yet. I am trying to make sure that everyone gets at least one!  Reflect: What did my work/experiences teach me that I will build upon next week?  I learned that the par...
